The Henry Vandenberg

Pro-Life Work / Volunteer Scholarship

The Henry Vandenberg Post-Secondary Pro-Life Work Scholarship was instituted in 2017 by the Lethbridge and District Pro-Life Association in recognition of the leadership, wisdom, and years of dedicated service of Henry Vandenberg to the Pro-Life Movement as treasurer of the Board of Directors of Lethbridge Pro-Life.  Henry was tragically taken from us in a car accident in November 2016. 


Purpose of the Scholarship

To encourage young people to

  1. Learn more about the pro-life movement.

  2. Reward involvement in pro-life activities.

  3. Participate in voluntary activities in their school, church and/or community.

  4. Become discerning of society’s values. 


Value of the Scholarship

  1. Five hundred dollars ($500) to be awarded to the winner. 

  2. Payment and certificate of recognition will be presented to the winner(s) at a predetermined time and location.


The Scholarship Contest Rules

  1. Pro-Life Work/Volunteer Activities – State your past and present pro-life work/volunteer activities that promote a culture of life.  Include a personal biography of pro-life activities, and based on past experiences, suggest new ideas for getting more people involved in promoting life.


  2. Self-Profile and References 

    a. Submit a self-profile (200-400 words) that describes your motive and interest behind your involvement in pro-life activities and how this will shape your future defense of life. 

    b. Obtain one letter of reference.  Your reference letter should be from someone who is not related to you and has observed or is aware of your involvement in pro-life activities (as stated in your self-profile). You can attach the reference here or they can email it directly to us at lethprolife@gmail.com.


Eligibility:

The entrant must be: 

  1. A full-time student attending a post-secondary institution (does not have to be in Southern Alberta) and must have their home base in the administrative region of Lethbridge and District Pro-Life.


Administration of the Scholarship

  1. A committee selected by the board of Lethbridge & District Pro-Life Association will administer the contest and constitute the panel of judges.

  2. Entries will be judged after the deadline has passed and the winner will be notified.


Rights to Applications Submitted

Lethbridge and District Pro-Life Association retains the copyright to any application submitted for the contest.
